As usual, Brazil has been in the news for the unrelenting carnage in the Amazon by the Brazilian government and the industries that feed on the death of the planet. The Amazon rainforest is one of nine active tipping points for biosphere collapse and is expected to collapse totally once the global temperature rise reaches 1.5C as early as 2024.
Jair Bolsonaro is a genocidal maniac. He does nothing to protect the indigenous tribes living in harmony with the forest for thousands of years. He also attacked the quilombos, which escaped slaves founded those communities also located in the Amazon. Why would he commit such horrible crimes against humanity? Well, it comes down to the almighty dollar or the almighty real if you live in Brazil.

The primary reason for annihilating the Amazon basin is for grazing beef. Livestock grazing consumes 80 percent of the destruction and releases 340 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The land is cleared of their tree cover by logging, and the lumber is sold on the world market. Then the remains are set on fire for agriculture and grazing. If minerals are found, watch out. Native peoples are slaughtered by the thousands for the convenience of other nations.
CO2 is the most common carbon-based gas and melts the ice of the polar regions, wreaking havoc in the delicate balance of water vapor in the rainforest that will inevitably turn the Amazon that has existed for 55 million years into savannah.
The loss of the Amazon is one of the saddest events in the world as the forest is full of unique animal and plant diversity. Every single species in the rainforest is endangered.
