What diary hijackers don't understand about the seven most dangerous things from climate change.

Most people have a general idea of what climate change is doing to the planet; after all, 85% of the world's population has already been impacted by fossil fuel emissions. Those greenhouse emissions transform our climate from safe and stable to chaotic and deadly. Most folks, however, have no understanding of how serious the ramifications will be and how fast the extreme threats to their existence will arrive.

I have a small beef. A few readers rush into any climate diary that points to Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema jeopardizing humanity's future by devotion to fossil fuel industry donations for their opposition to concrete action to soften the blow from the inevitable punches from global heating. That is a problem the world can not and must not tolerate.

The democratic party and Joe Biden have put through an aggressive plan to combat this looming horror that is bearing down on us today. The goal is nowhere near being assertive enough to deal with the enormity of the problem. The fix for that goal though will cause suffering, a lot of it.

The 3.5 trillion dollar bill does go far enough to soften some of the catastrophic ramifications for the American people and every single citizen of the world. I like to call that planetary hospice care.

Below the fold are seven misunderstandings put together byJob One for Humanity. They ask for you to share their article on social media by signing a petition to keep the pressure on and, notably, so that others can access the information that is not widely known by the vast majority.

1. The global warming emergency and its future is far worse than the government, the media, or the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change [IPCC] are telling us. (Click here to see just how much worse things will become and how fast.)

2. We are long past the point of individual actions alone saving us. Only worldwide governmental action and mass mobilization to enforce immediate, radical, and painful fossil fuel cuts can save us from extinction.

3. Because of internal climate system momentum factors, human inertia factors, and 40 years of failed global fossil fuel reductions, we have only until 2025 (or staying below the atmospheric carbon 425-450 parts per million level) to maintain realistic control of our global warming future. Unfortunately, we are already currently at carbon 420 parts per million.

4. The rate of global warming consequences occurring will soon start rising exponentially. These consequences will soon stop rising gradually and linearly as they are occurring now!

5. Now that critical global warming tipping points are already being crossed, many climate-related systems (like the Arctic sea ice, melting glaciers, oxygen-producing plankton, etc.) will also collapse quickly (usually completely or near completely!)

6. If we do not make the required 2025 global fossil fuel reductions in time to fix the global warming extinction emergency, without fail, Mother Nature will painfully do it for us!

7. We are much like the experimental frogs who boil to death floating in a slowly heating pot that they could easily escape. Our ape ancestors have left us with mental and emotional hardwiring that does not recognize or respond well to distant, complex, or slow-moving threats.

In a separate plea, One Humanity Org identifies the rapid approach of tipping points that should scare the beejeebus out of you. To clarify, the world is already at 420 ppm (see blockquote below).

The four critical atmospheric carbon-based global warming accelerating tipping points and deadlines to never forget:

1. the 2025 carbon 425-450 ppm tipping point, (the first extinction-initiating triggering level,)

2. the 2042-2067 or earlier, the carbon 500 ppm extinction-accelerating tipping point, (the runaway global ice melt tipping point level,)

3. the 2063-2072 or earlier, the carbon 600 ppm extinction-accelerating tipping point, (the massive methane release tipping point level,) and

4. the post-2072, the carbon 750 ppm runaway global warming temperature tipping point level.)

Of these four tipping points, 2025 is the most important. Once we cross the 2025 tipping point, any realistic or practical control of our global warming future to prevent mass extinction is all but over for centuries to thousands of years. If we pass the following four critical deadlines and tipping points, not only will we experience mass human, animal, and biological extinction, we will also experience widespread economic, social, and political chaos within our lifetimes!

For whatever reason, some can't help themselves but defend two Democratic senators' obstruction instead of asking them to fall on their sword to save the biosphere. To be clear, they don't care about you or your children. If they did, green activists would not have hair-on-fire warnings; we would already be making actionable efforts now instead of demoralizing the base and the rest of the world's nations to act.

Whatever their motives for derailing the fight against climate change, pressure must be placed on these two to act for the good of all species on earth. And, yes, the GQP and their fascist base are irredeemable. They are the obvious villain. We need those two votes as a result of a fifty-fifty split in the Senate, however. That is the math along with Vice President Harris's tie-breaking vote.

There is no do-over if the reconciliation bill fails in the Senate; the result will be total extinction. Or more likely a Permian level event. We are out of effing time. Educate yourself, your family, and friends by sending your concerns to the Biden administration to not give in to the blackmail by the Senate.

Daily Kos has an abundance of green diarists. Read what they want you to understand without heckling from the sidelines. Green diarists put their emotional health on the line for you to understand what climate change deniers and enablers do to kill you. Just be kind.

The writers in Climate Brief work to keep the Daily Kos community informed and engaged with breaking news about the climate crisis worldwide while providing inspiring stories of environmental heroes, opportunities for direct engagement, and perspectives on the intersection of climate activism with spirituality politics, and the arts.
