The American Red Cross is holding it’s 60th gala ball at Mar-A-Lago this Saturday night. This event will be full of society figures and foreign ambassadors indulging in a dinner, dancing and fireworks. The event is completely full at roughly 600 attendees. This will be Trump’s first visit to the Palm Beach palace since the inauguration. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a flight restriction for the area for this weekend.
CNN reports on the ball.
The ball, a long-running highlight on the Palm Beach social calendar, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. The theme is "Vienna to Versailles," meant to evoke European grandeur in the gilded Grand Ballroom at the oceanfront Florida property. Read More Trump designed the ballroom himself, adding it onto the historic estate after he purchased it in the 1980s. He has claimed the ballroom rakes in more money for charity annually than any other space in the US.The Resistance will be attending the event as well though we will be on the mainland side at the Intracoastal. The Palm Beach Post reports:
The group plans to head south from Trump Plaza along South Flagler Drive to Southern Boulevard, where they would travel east across the Southern Boulevard Bridge to Bingham Island. Milo said that route is subject to change, and he plans to meet with other political groups Tuesday to get a better estimate of how many people will attend.
The march will end with a “silent disco protest ball” where protesters will use glow sticks and flashlights in lieu of signs, according to the Facebook page. Protesters also will watch the fireworks show put on by the Red Cross Ball, the page said.
Public Safety Director Kirk Blouin said in a phone interview Monday that officials have been monitoring the protest. They plan to reach out to the organizers and allow marchers to assemble on Bingham Island, the causeway between Mar-a-Lago and the bridge.
