As of 4:35 this morning, Truth Social is Trump’s attempt to clone a Twitter-like social media platform. Newsweek has not heard any correspondence of when they expect to be up again.   But last night, the social media site had a major outage, leaving users unable to access members' profiles. When clicking the link, users receive the following error:

"Something went wrong. We're sorry for the interruption. If the problem persists, please reach out to our support team. You may also try to clear cookies and browser data (this will log you out)."

From Newsweek:

In November 2022, Trump's X account was reinstated after the company was purchased by business tycoon Elon Musk, but the former president has only posted once and has otherwise stuck to his own website. Following a series of primary victories last week, Trump is now the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

Reports from users unable to access Truth Social began at about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday and are continuing as of 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, according to Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages.

Downdetector received the highest number of outage reports at 4:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday, when 71 recordings were made, though this had fallen to 12 by 2:55 a.m. ET this morning.

Newsweek contacted Truth Social by email at 4:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday. This article will be updated if they decide to comment.

Truth Social also went down briefly on March 8, coinciding with President Joe Biden's State of the Union address in Congress, according to The Mirror.

Seven days ago, this was reported:

Trump was reportedly trying to sell the social network at the time, and SEC filings from 2023 revealed that Trump Media & Technology Group had lost over $31 million since it began operating Truth Social in 2021—only making a profit in 2022.

Musk previously criticized Truth Social, saying it has a “terrible name” and only “exists because Twitter censored free speech.”

Although Musk reinstated Trump’s Twitter account in November 2022 shortly after purchasing Twitter for $44 billion, the former president has only posted one time since—reportedly to retain value for Truth Social.

Musk has met with the former president before, including once last week in a meeting reported by The New York Times, but the billionaire also stated that he was “not donating money to either candidate for US President” in a post on X shortly after news of the meeting broke.

Business Insider reported on December 1, 2023, of a possible sale of Mar-A-Lago to one of the social media moguls.

Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and "kings" would pay $1 billion dollars for Mar-a-Lago, according to a Palm Beach real-estate broker whom Donald Trump plans to call to testify next week, as an expert defense witness in his New York civil fraud trial.

"It's like a fantasy list," the broker, Lawrence Moens, said in a pre-trial deposition over the summer, describing the dozen-or-so ultra-billionaires he thinks would spring that high for the property.

"I could dream up anyone from Elon Musk to Bill Gates and everyone in between," he told lawyers for the state attorney general's office during the July deposition, previewing next week's trial testimony. "Kings, emperors, heads of state."

"If they want the best house in the country, that would be one of the top two or three that would be available if they were for sale," he added, according to a transcript.

Musk recently stated that he would not donate to Trump’s political campaign. When Musk and Trump talked a couple of weeks ago, Trump was waiting for the amount he would have to pay New York for his civil conviction of fraud.

Of course, Trump was raging on the platform yesterday. All of the venom can take a toll on the human body, and it would be a shame if TFG had a medical emergency over this judgment. I just checked, and the site is still down.

The founders have sued Trump for shorting them of Truth Social:

An estimated $4 billion business merger involving former President Donald Trump’s social media company could hit a major snarl after a lawsuit was filed Wednesday accusing Trump of trying to dilute the co-founders’ shares.

Andy Litinsky and Wes Moss, who co-founded Trump’s Truth Social platform, filed a lawsuit in Delaware claiming their previously negotiated 8.6% stake in Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG ) has been watered down to less than 1%, The Washington Post and CNBC reported.

The dispute comes as TMTG eyes a merger with the publicly traded shell company Digital World Acquisition Corp. The sale, which Digital World’s shareholders are scheduled to vote on next month, is estimated to be worth as much as $4 billion, according to The New York Times.

“The attempt here is to deprive them of the deal,” attorney Christopher J. Clark, who is representing Litinsky and Moss’ partnership, United Atlantic Ventures (UAV), in the complaint, told CNBC News. “They actually went out and did the work, they created Truth Social, and now the beneficiary of that, Donald Trump, doesn’t want to pay.”

Twitter reacts:

(🚨) BREAKING NEWS: The mask is off. Musk is a Trump agent and Twitter a Trump instrument. Musk changed this platform’s algo to exponentially amplify his pro-GOP, pro-Russia, anti-LGBTQ, white identity politics agenda—and the digital lackeys who echo it.
